Replace your passwords with your heartbeat

Imagine never having to type a password, and never needing to pull out your credit card to make a payment ever again. Thanks to a new biometrics startup Bionym that is soon going to be possible.

Bionym is all set to release Nymi, a sleek wristband that uses your heartbeat to authenticate your identity and unlock your favorite devices such as computer, smartphone, car etc. If adopted at a large scale this could be the first step in people using the wristbands in place of keys and passwords. 😎

You can pre-order the Nymi for $79, but it’s not going into production until later this year. In the months leading up to the official launch, Bionym’s main task is going to be to get third-party developers on board to create a thriving ecosystem of apps and devices that the Nymi can be used with.
