
RFID technology and its integration with social API’s is becoming more mainstream! In this latest example, Ushuaïa Beach Hotel in Ibiza, has become the world’s first hotel to use the RFID technology to engage its guests. The installation has been created by Dorst & Lesser, who were also responsible for the Renault RFID installation at the Amsterdam Auto Show.
As the below video explains, the hotel was outfitted with pillars that read RFID-enabled bracelets. Guests could check in, take pictures or post a status update, depending on where they were positioned in the hotel and what the pillar was offering. The pillars were installed at the beach, the pool and on the dance floor. The objective was to “Make all your Facebook friends jealous.”
The RFID and Facebook integration have also been done at the Coca-Cola Village in Israel.
