Ralph Lauren Polo 4D

In September 2012, Hugo Boss live streamed its Boss Black Fall Winter 2012 fashion show directly in 3D. Now fast forward to 2014 and Ralph Lauren has launched their Polo for Women Spring 2015 collection via a cinematic 4D experience. 😎

On the evening of September 8th during the New York Fashion Week, Ralph Lauren created a runway out of a 60 foot high water-screen projection that towered above Manhattan’s Central Park fusing fashion, art and technology.

The Dancing Traffic Light

Traffic lights can be very dangerous for pedestrians, especially for those who don’t like to wait for the light to change. So the Smart team from Mercedes-Benz created “The Dancing Traffic Light” where a person’s dance moves were brought to a traffic light in real time. As a result 81% more people stopped at that red light.

Topshop Social Catwalk

In a fashion week first, Topshop presented their Unique SS15 collection not only on the runway but also on Instagram and Facebook.

5 VIP Instagramers who had special access to the show gave the world a unique view of the event and invited fans to feature in the #TopshopWindow display that was set up at the flagship store in Oxford Circus, London. Eat the Art

Cheese brand Castello, teamed up with ad agency Duval Guillaume to give New Yorkers the opportunity to taste their cheese in a very original way. A pop-up museum was setup at Grand Central Station, where famous still life paintings that contained images of cheese were reproduced with great precision with existing Castello cheeses. The difference? You could really smell and eat the copied works of art.

Over the course of two days, more than 500,000 visitors enjoyed the unique exhibition and 40,000 people actually tasted the cheese.

KLM Live High Five

On 28th of August, KLM connected hundreds of people in Amsterdam and New York via a live interactive video display. The display let people on the streets of the two cities come face to face with one another, just as the French railway (SNCF) had done with Lyon and Brussels in 2012.

However the KLM version had a contest built into it. The connected people were asked to High Five each other and for every successfully timed High Five, the participants got two tickets to New York or Amsterdam.

Drone-vertising

Unmanned aircrafts have been used to carry out military strikes, to film weddings and someday will even be used someday to deliver products from companies like Amazon, Netflix, Francesco’s Pizzeria and Flower Delivery Express.

Until the legalities of commercial use are cleared up by the local governments, companies in Russia and Brazil have gone ahead and created the first of their kind drone-vertising campaigns…

Russia

As ordinary advertising channels continue to be congested, Russian creative agency Hungry Boys used drones to advertise noodle company Wokker.

Wokker banners were attached to drones and launched around high-rise business buildings in Moscow’s financial district, drawing the attention of hundreds of people as they flew past office windows. This resulted in deliveries in the campaigned area to go up by 40%.

Brazil

Cup Noodles, the instant ramen noodles snack from Nissin-Ajinomoto, is being promoted in Brazil with the launch of drones with cows, chickens, corn cobs and shrimps. The two and a half minute film created by Dentsu Brazil for the brands online campaign, uses drones to take the instant noodles to surfers, skateboarders and highline walkers as they practice their sport.

Automated Thanking Machine

Start with the smile of your audience, and then work back from there. That is the key to most of the successful marketing campaigns. Coca-Cola has done a great job with their various happiness campaigns, followed by WestJet’s christmas campaign where they surprised their passengers with gifts.

Now TD Canada Trust for their “TD Thanks You” campaign converted select ATM machines in their Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver branches into special Automated Thanking Machines. Then 20 hand picked customers were requested to test out these new ATMs. To their surprise the ATM knew their names, talked back to them and eventually even gave them ultra cool gifts. The reactions were captured on video, which in the last 8 days has already got 4.9 million YouTube views.

Pay Per Laugh

In mid-2013, the art industry in Spain suffered a big blow. The government decided to raise tax for theatrical shows from 8% to 21%, resulting in a great loss of audience. So independent comedy theatre company Teatreneu decided to launch a comedy show that you paid for only when you laughed.

Entrace to the show was totally free. But for every laugh during the show the spectator had to pay 30 euro cents, with the maximum amount being 24 Euros for 80 laughs. This unique way of charging for the show was made possible by fitting each theatre seat with a facial recognition system that detected the smile of the spectators.

As a result, the average price of the ticket increased by 6 Euros. The technology used was the talk of the town and it increased the show viewership by 35%.

The Football Machine

Herta a German subsidiary of the Nestle Group, launched a new product in Belgium called Knacki FootBall – small meatballs that look like footballs.

Then at a local train station, they placed a vending machine that offered these meatballs for free. But what people did not know was that to get the free meatballs they had to play a game of football inside the vending machine against a Belgian football legend Leo Van Der Elst. The results…

Save the Sundae Cone

Summer is here and McDonald’s is back with another cool interactive outdoor advertising campaign. This time they have used a giant LED billboard in the middle of Bukit Bintang, one of Kuala Lumpur’s most famous shopping districts.

The LED billboard showcased McDonald’s iconic Sundae Cone in all its glory. However, there was one problem – it was melting. To save the cone people had to use their smartphones to spin the fan on the billboard, bring the temperature down and save the melting Sundae Cone. 😎
