Antarctica Breathalyzer

Drinks giant Ambev aimed to reduce high rates of drinking and driving in Brazil. So with agency Almap BBDO, they came up with a unique Antarctica beer ‘breathalyzer’ campaign. The campaign in a very unique and engaging way showed the young people of Brazil how their judgement skills got affected by alcohol.

Video screens were placed in bars where a normal looking girl invited the customers to take the breath test by breathing into the machine. If they passed, they could go, but if the machine detected alcohol, the girl on the screen would transform into a gyrating, seductive beauty and the machine would spit out a discount voucher for a taxi company. 😆

Nike Take Mokum

Boondoggle Amsterdam came up with a campaign for Nike that made running less serious. They distracted youngsters from their boring running schedules and challenged them to release their creativity on Amsterdam by using their feet as paint instead!

A Facebook app called ‘Take Mokum’ (Amsterdam’s local nickname) was developed that allowed runners to make digital graffiti’s on the map of Amsterdam. All they had to do was actually run the route and upload their KMs with Nike+. The app would then paint the graffiti for them. These graffiti’s could then be shared, and liked fanatically. The result? Young Amsterdam starting running and Nike’s mission to change running was actually experienced by youngsters.

Budweiser Ice Cold Index

Irish people have always been fascinated by the weather but their interest is set to reach new heights this summer with the launch of the Budweiser Ice Cold Index.

The Budweiser Ice Cold Index App is set to show you the local weather, then spit out redemption codes for free or discounted beer at nearby participating pubs. The higher the temperature, the less you’ll pay for your pint. 🙂

This app literally moves people into the selling space, provides refreshment, and so it should gain some loyalty points with the customers as well. Too bad it’s only in Ireland!

Haunted photocopier room

Lenovo, one of the world’s largest laptop brands, has developed a series of online viral videos for their latest flagship product – the ThinkPad T420. In a series of videos they have tried to highlight all the extra time one can have as the laptop has proven features such as faster graphics performance, faster boot up, faster wireless connections, faster data transfer, etc.

However only one of these videos caught my eye. Please enjoy it responsibly. 🙂

Lenovo’s emerging marketing team has developed the virals for use in Russia, India, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Turkey, South Africa, South East Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

This egg timer iPhone app was created by Crispin Porter + Bogusky Europe for Swedish sandwich spread Kalles Kaviar.

The idea behind the app is to assist users in boiling the perfect egg. It even puts together a playlist, that when finished, means your egg is ready.

It’s clearly a hit with caviar/egg lovers as the app has already had more than 50,000 downloads and is the third most downloaded in the free app section in the Swedish iTunes AppStore.

Homeplus Subway Virtual Store

South Korea is a unique market. Even the most powerful global corporations tend to fail miserably in the Korean market. Walmart and Carrefour had to pack up their bags and leave. On the contrary, Tesco has been evolving itself, adjusting to the local market. It even changed the name itself, from Tesco to Homeplus! And at last, it grew to rank No. 2 in Korea! But Tesco had to overcome one obstacle? A fewer number of stores compared to the number one company, E-mart.

Agency Cheil Korea came up with the idea to bring the store to the people! They created virtual stores in subway station hoping to blend into people’s everyday lives. Their first try was busy subway station in rush hours. Although virtual, the displays were exactly the same as actual stores – from the display to merchandises. Only one thing was different, you could use smart phones to shop! Scan the QR code with your phone, and the product automatically would land into your on-line cart! When the online purchase was done, it would be delivered to your door right after you get home.

As a result people could meet Tesco Homeplus wherever they go, not having to visit the actual store. Moreover they could make good use of the wasted times and enjoy their free time. After this campaign, on-line sales increased tremendously (Nov 2010 – Jan 2011). Through this campaign, 10,287 consumers visited the online Homeplus mall using smartphones. The number of new registered members rose by 76%, and on-line sales increased 130%. Homeplus became the No.1 on-line market and is a very close 2nd offline.

The “Whopper Lust” Challenge

Stare at a picture of a Whopper long enough and you’ll win one. That’s the premise of the new interactive TV campaign created by CP+B for Burger King. This seemingly endless interactive TV ad, actually was an entire dedicated TV channel on Direct TV channel 111. And for one week they gave away an unlimited number of Whoppers!

To win, one had to tune in and activate the Whopper Lust challenge…a 5 minute countdown would then start and you would have to watch a perfectly flamed grilled burger spin for 5 minutes. After which you would get a free burger, watch it for another 10 minutes and you would get two, 20 minutes and you get four…it was endless! 🙂

The catch however was, that during these minutes the TV would every now and then prompt you to hit various buttons on your remote. Miss one, and the clock would re-start, and you would loose that burger. Complete the challenge and you could claim the free burger right there on the TV. Simple, but powerfully engaging!

Since the launch of the challenge, Burger King has already given away over 50,000 burgers. At this rate, by the end of one week, over 800,000 minutes or 13,500 hours of pure Whopper TV would have been watched!
